Summer in the stable is wonderful – but can also be unbearably hot. If you, like us, don’t exactly love being covered in sweat after a ride in the scorching sun, here comes the ultimate guide to staying cool in and out of the stable when temperatures rise. We have a big selection of different short-sleeved tops that are perfect for the hotter days… just don’t forget sunscreen! 🧴
When the sun is beating down, it’s important to protect your skin, which you can also do with slightly more covering clothes. If you go for a long sleeve, you might want to opt for a lighter color since they reflect sunlight better while dark colors absorb it. This means that you’ll feel cooler wearing light, bright colors. You can for example choose a light-colored function shirt with long sleeves and a half-zip to be able to regulate your body temperature better. But even though light-colored pieces both look and feel good, we know it’s not always easy to stay clean when working at the stable – colors such as gray and beige can be a practical option when dealing with dirt and grime.
It’s not only tops and t-shirts that can help regulate your body temperature; our breeches are made from material that’s designed for hotter days. All of our models work for the summer season but if you want to stay as cool as possible, the Function and Performance Breeches are the light-wear options best suited for hot days. The material can be likened to that seen in gym tights. Choose a lighter color to avoid the “burning” sensation on your thighs when riding.
Want to avoid squinting all summer long? A good cap can give shade to your head and face, or why not opt for our Maya Sunhat. Protecting your head and face is important for several reasons. So, find your favorite amongst our headwear and don’t take it off until summer is over. 🤠 Complete the look with a nice water bottle that’ll keep your drinks cool, comfortable slippers to alternate with the riding boots, and maybe a pair of shorts – avoid those classic equestrian tanlines!
Key Takeaways:
Choose tops made out of a breathable fabric that wicks moisture away from the body.
Protect your head and face from the sun – choose a functional cap or hat that also looks good.
Drink a lot of water (this goes both for you and your horse).
Choose light-weight clothing in light colors – but don’t forget to wear sunscreen if you’re wearing shorts or a short-sleeved top.
If you can – ride early morning or late evening. More comfortable for both you and your horse. 💛
