Filippa Norrman's Exercise:

Pear-Shaped Serpentines

“My second favorite exercise is riding pear-shaped serpentine loops. I do this exercise to make the horse more supple and loose on both reins.”

This is how you do it:

"Unlike regular serpentine loops where the horse is parallel to the short sides, for training purposes, you can make the loops more pear-shaped, making sure the horse is never straight or parallel to the short side but changes bend directly from one loop to another.

You can ride this exercise in all gaits. I primarily do it in canter to improve lead changes. This exercise is also a great preparation for flying changes by inserting a simple lead change when crossing the centerline."
